This text is a modern English translation of The Aeneid, a rendition of the original Latin brought to life with the help of modern technology. I undertook this task because I believe it is vital for readers today to have easy access to the great works of the past. The Aeneid stands as one of the foundations of world literature and modern civilization—the myths and ideas it contains were woven into the very fabric of our ancestors’ thinking, forming threads that continue to shape our world today.

In translating this work, I hoped to keep it alive—or perhaps bring it back to life—as generations of writers have done before me for the works of the great masters. My aim was to honor Virgil’s legacy and breathe new life into his epic for the modern reader.
